Natasha & Max | Artsy Tattoo Shop Engagement Session | Brooklyn, NY

One of the coolest couples I ever got to work with was Natasha & Max. Natasha and I got to collaborate on a photoshoot when they took a trip to visit NYC. When they ended up moving to Brooklyn shortly after, we reconnected for an epic engagement session at a tattoo and oddities shop.

The couple got coordinated pieces, one in full color, one in black and white, inspired by their favorite stories in “The Illustrated Man”, a collection of science fiction shorts by Ray Bradbury. When we arrived for their appointments, they signed their release forms, played a game of rock paper scissors to decide who went first, and settled in for an afternoon getting inked. Between their sessions, we took a walk over to the Gowanus Canal to stretch out and grab a few portraits.

This pair are both artists themselves! Natasha creates beautiful floral pieces and vintage inspired jewelry at Auris Floris. Max is a graphic designer and illustrator.

Since I’m a big fan of tattoos, I had always wanted to do a session like this! As always, I’m so grateful to get to work with such creative and alternative couples always down for adventure!

Huge thank you to the incredible owners at Triple Diamond Tattoo for letting me document most unique & permanent engagement session! Tattoos by artist Hillary Blair.

Caitlin & Tom | Riverwalk Couples Session | St. Paul, Minnesota

In late July I traveled to the Twin Cities for the first time to attend a leadership retreat. While visiting, I was introduced to a friend of a friend and we set up a last minute session along the Mississippi River!

Caitlin, a talented photographer herself, her husband Tom, their two dogs, Ava & Oscar, and I took a walk by the river and snapped some fun summer photos.

Check out some of Caitlin’s pets & people photographs. And thank you to my good friend, Justina Michaels, the owner of boutique NYC event planning company Fitting Fêtes, for helping to set this session up!

Galaxy Styled Wedding Inspiration | Brooklyn, NY

"It's bigger than love, brighter than all the stars combined." - Ben Gibbard

This past summer, I was looking through Instagram and felt inspired to put together a styled shoot after seeing photo after photo featuring the most beautiful shades of purple and blue. Celestial colors and imagery has always been appealing to me, I even got a telescope as a birthday gift many years ago!

A few weeks later, I began reaching out to other vendors both in NYC and across the country. My good friend and previous collaborator, Ashley, of Le Petit Prints, and I were bouncing ideas and inspiration back and forth when it all started to come together.

The overall vision for the shoot was a modern galaxy themed wedding, but I wanted each vendor to be able to use their own creativity and artistic ideas. We wanted to keep it simple, with trendy, but offbeat twists. Our tattooed "bride" skipped the traditional white gown for a sleek navy number. Our baker opted for cupcakes instead of classic wedding cake. Our jeweler created customized pieces just for us. Our florist went for a very unique interpretation with her wild arrangement.

I am infinitely grateful to the amazing team behind this shoot! It couldn't have come together better than it did. Thank you all for your contributions, collaboration, patience and for bringing my idea to life.  See how it all turned out below!

Kate & James | Tattooed Engagement Session | Las Vegas, NV

When I visited Las Vegas this past October, I was able to connect with Kate when we collaborated on this shoot with Desert Daisy Jewelry. We had been emailing about setting up a family session the week before since she, James, and their adorable son, Waylon, were overdue to have their photos taken.

The morning after we met, the three of them showed up to our session in Downtown Las Vegas in coordinating outfits, all the way down to their boots! Waylon was just the sweetest, most polite, photogenic little guy!

After snapping some shots with the awesome street murals near Fremont Street, we decided to treat ourselves to breakfast at The Donut Bar. I've never seen such huge, gorgeous donuts and, thankfully, they were just as delicious as they were pretty. Waylon picked out the pink one, and I just had to have the funfetti, of course! After our snack break, we captured some more photos and played at Container Park! We had so much fun.
