If anyone had told me at the beginning of the year that we would all be quarantined at home for months, I would have not believed them. And I definitely would never have thought I’d be doing couples sessions over FaceTime! In need of a creative outlet, I jumped on this spring & summer trend and got to work with couples I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.
Posing couples for virtual sessions was a new type of challenge. Shouting directions from my living room in Brooklyn into my iPad while they were across a pool in Florida was an interesting first. Sometimes the connection would cut out, pausing the video and blurring the image. Editing photo files so small didn’t allow for many corrections, but in the end, everyone was happy with the results.
My suggestions for anyone looking to do a virtual photo shoot would be to be patient, have fun, and keep your expectations for quality low. While I don’t plan on permanently adding this type of session to my service options, they served their purpose and created small, happy moments, a new and unique quarantine activity, and the chance to make new connections in a time that when we all needed it.
